Alkali Molecular Absorber

The Alkali Molecular Absorber is a strong getter for oxygen, nitrogen and water. It can be used in vacuum applications as well as for noble gas purification.

ALVASOURCES® for Photocathodes and OLEDs

Alvatec produces alkali vapor sources (ALVASOURCES®) based on stable intermetallic compounds containing the desired alkali metal or earth alkali metal, respectively. The active material is in a protectively sealed stainless steel housing which makes it chemically stable under ambient air. When installed in the application the sealing melts during the thermal activation process and the pure alkali metal is released by heating in a vacuum chamber and can be controlled by the heating current. Alvasources generate ultra pure metal vapor in a very controllable manner. They are delivered in various sizes, they are absolutely chromatefree. Their intrinsic properties such as absorbing residual gases or forming pure active metal coatings can be perfectly used for OLED production, for photo cathodes, for night goggling devices as well as for nano-layer getters. High-Tech Metallurgy - Chemically Active Materials

The Alva-Tube-Getter (ATG) is a high capacity getter to maintain a vacuum below 1E-4 mbar for many years. The outstanding sorption capacity - especially for H2 - enables its usage for vacuum insulation, vacuum tubes and UHV/XHV applications.

Alkali Hydrogen Generator

The increasing demand of alternative energy sources is the driving force behind the development of fuel cells. Fuel cells generate electricity during the recombination of Hydrogen and Oxygen. Whereas oxygen can be provided from ambient air the storage and transport of hydrogen causes many technical problems.

A simple way to generate hydrogen is the reaction of alkali metals with water. All alkali metals generate gaseous hydrogen and alkali-hydroxides in contact with water

AM(s) + 2H20(l) -> AM(OH)2(l) +H2(g)

Alvatec offers metallic alloys which generate hydrogen up to 13 wt% H2. Our H2 generators work without any catalyst and the residuals can be disposed of easily. We can adjust the H2 production rate depending on applications. The Alvatec hydrogen generators are suitable for micro PEM fuel cells, stand-alone power supplies, mobile power supplies and battery system. Patents pending.
