Permabond Anaerobic Adhesives By definition, anaerobic adhesives remain liquid until isolated from oxygen in the presence of metal ions, such as iron or copper. For example, when an anaerobic adhesive is sealed between a nut and a bolt on a threaded assembly, it rapidly "cures" or hardens to form a tough cross-linked plastic that will bond quite well to many metals. Anaerobic applications differ widely; applications requiring high shear strengths and resistance to temperatures as high as 445 F will find ready solutions from Permabond. For sealing, bonding and locking solutions there are wicking and gap fill grades, available for both manual and automatic dispensing methods. A range of room temperature fixture times offers maximum flexibility in product assembly. Retaining Permabond's capabilities in formulating application-specific adhesives led to the development of bonding products for retaining applications once reserved for mechanical joining methods such as keyways, interference fits, or shrink fits. Threadlocking Permabond's threadlocking sealants are a cost effective and superior alternative to lock washers, locking threads, and studs. Permabond has a complete line of anaerobic threadlockers. They prevent loosening due to vibration or thermal expansion on all metal threaded fasteners and provide corrosion resistant seals. Pipe Sealing Permabond pipesealing products are found in various industries including fire protection, HVAC, and plumbing. These Teflon® based formulations allow easy assembly and provide an instant seal of 1000psi and final cure strength generally exceeds that of most pipe material. Gasketing Permabond's gasketing products include high viscosity sealants designed for specific performance requirements of gasketing applications. Permabond gasketing sealants improve load transfer and stress distribution across flanges. They eliminate stocking various sizes of pre-cut gaskets. Permabond Cyanoacrylate Adhesives The excellent performance and versatility of Permabond's cyanoacrylate adhesives have eliminated many of the limitations of product design and production. Permabond manufactures a full spectrum of cyanoacrylates. Our chemists have perfected this line to perform superbly with historically resistant materials including many plastics such as polyolefin and PTFE, as well as dissimilar metals. Permabond's high performance cyanoacrylate formulations provide a wide variety of viscosity choices as well as non-blooming and low odor formulations, rapid cure formulas and high temperature resistant products. How Do Cyanoacrylate Adhesives Work? Permabond's cyanoacrylates (one-part adhesives) have been designed to cure by reacting to small traces of surface moisture. Because not all applications require the adhesive between two surfaces, Permabond developed an activator for use when the cyanoacrylate is left exposed. Simply spray the activator on the exposed adhesive. Cyanoacrylates cure very quickly at room temperature, eliminating the need for costly ovens or curing equipment. Gap fill ranges for cyanoacrylates are 0.006 inches to 0.020 inches (0.015 centimeters to 0.051 centimeters). Temperature resistance ranges from -76 degrees to 500 degrees Fahrenheit or -60 degrees to 260 degrees Centigrade. Permabond cyanoacrylates are ideal for bonding, wire tacking and tamper proofing. Our research and development team continually pushes the limits of cyanoacrylate technology. Highlights of a few products follow. . . High Temperature Resistance Permabond products 919 and 920 offer extremely high temperature resistance with a post secondary heat cure. Permabond 820 offers the highest temperature resistance the technology will bear without a secondary heat cure. No Drip" Gel Permabond manufactures a true gel adhesive. This product is not simply thick but a highly thixotropic gel designed for applications that require the adhesive to stay where it is put without running or flowing. The product bonds to a wide variety of substrates and is ideal for vertical applications. Non-Blooming and Low Odor Permabonds 940 series is virtually odor free and will not fog or discolor plastics like conventional cyanoacrylates. Unlike other low odor cyanoacrylates Permabond 940 series are fast curing and offer high bond strengths to a variety of substrates. |
